Tooling Engineer Job

Lead and support projects and activities related to the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and related equipment with emphasis on tooling for metal and plastics. Essential Responsibilities *Live, promote and teach the GE Production System philosophy and drive continuous improvement in the technical process areas. Coach and develop team leaders to ensure standard work and escalation processes are followed * Provide detailed and comprehensive planning and implementation of right-sized manufacturing equipment with a focus on tooling for processes such as metal stamping and plastics molding. * Work with advanced manufacturing tooling engineers to support NPI and TCO programs. * Work with advanced manufacturing tooling engineers to investigate, initiate and drive the development, procurement and implementation of equipment processes for manufacturing. * Perform part reviews for manufacturability and work with technology to mitigate any problems. * Specify, review and order molds and dies for manufacturing of component parts. * Effectively communicate with GE Consumer Industrial Project team for successful implementation of projects. * Develop and manage program cost and tooling schedules on assigned projects. * Actively participate as a program team member with all functions: Design, Quality, Purchasing and Manufacturing. * Capability to follow and understand both stamping dies and thermoplastic/thermoset molds. Qualifications/Requirements: * Technical degree, tooling apprenticeship or equivalent experience. * Demonstrated experience successfully specifying both dies and molds. * Significant manufacturing experience in stamping and thermo-set/thermoplastic molding. Desired Characteristics * Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering degree preferred. * Significant experience in implementing Lean process improvements in manufacturing operations. * Six Sigma Green Belt certification. * Excellent project tracking and detailed planning skills required. * Demonstrated project management skills. * High initiative, self-starter, proactive, dedicated, results oriented team player. * Significant experience in manufacturing plant environment. * Able to work in a cross-functional team environment with both salaried and hourly personnel to meet the needs of the operators, the program and the business. * Computer literate and skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Auto Cad Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.
