Tooling Engineer

Job Description

Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants and laboratories

Typical Duties:

(Included but not be limited to the preparation of the following)

·         Participate in Project Kick-off meetings

·         Prepare Tooling and Work-holding “scope of supply” summary sheets

·         Verify/ finalize the manufacturing process in consultation with the Customer

·         Prepare Tool-layouts for Customer Approval

·         Design non-standard tooling and fixtures

·         Check for any machine interferences

·         Receive Customer Approvals

·         Prepare request for quotes, evaluate quotes and release purchase orders for tooling work-holding

·         Prepare CNC programs

·         Provide all work-holding and tooling information for shop project book

·         Assist the shop during machine set-up and commissioning

·         Update all tooling work-holding after machine run-off

·         Provide all updated technical information to the documentation department

·         Provide technical support to the servicing department

·         Provide technical support to  sales marketing

Education/Experience:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of engineering

·         Minimum 5 years work experience with a reputed CNC metal cutting machine tool manufacturer in the areas of machine / tool design.

·         Work experience as a Tooling Engineer with a focus on design and selection of tooling and work-holding for setting up CNC metal cutting machines.

 

Skills and Special Requirements/Licensing:

(Included but not be limited to the preparation of the following)

·         Knowledge of GDT tolerances

·         Ability to interpret part print tolerances to finalize manufacturing process sheets.

·         CNC Machine programming and prior CNC set up experience in metal cutting machines in a job shop or high volume manufacturing facility

·         Excellent problem solving skills

·         Ability to work with minimal supervison

·         Proficiency with Auto CAD

·         Proficiency with Word, Excel, Power-Point

·         German language skills a plus
