TOOLING TECHNICIAN  AEROSPACE

Prestwick, Scotland

 

Your Job

To provide technical tooling support within the life cycle of the Product from the bid stage, through design, manufacture and sustaining support to production. This includes continuous improvement, laser tracking, liaison and co-ordination with tooling suppliers and partners.

 

·         Accountable for the maintenance, development and operation of Laser Checking Equipment.

·         Responsible for the provision of clear, concise and consistent tool manufacturing and technical instructions that allows tools to be made to production requirements.

·         Manipulating CAD data to support Jig/Tool activities when required.

·         Implementation of visible control and business support systems in order to demonstrate effective management and control of activities.

·         Definition and communication of Tooling related procedures and work instructions.

·         Technicians are also expected to;

-       Review of new equipment and technology

-       Review of methods in which existing equipment is used

-       Assist in new equipment justifications/commissions

·         Assist as required in the following:-

-       Jig buy off

-       Cycle checking and modifications

 

Job Requirements

·         Recognised Technical Craft apprenticeship educated to HNC level or equivalent.

·         Experience of Tool Assembly, Checking, Customer support, Design Engineering, IT/Computing, Site Services, Systems and Airframe Engineering would be advantageous.

·         Good oral and written communication skills

·         Team player

·         Ability to problem solve.
