The Trade and Compliance Coordinator will perform a variety of duties necessary to ensure facility compliance with US export regulations relating to the Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and other related laws and regulations.  The incumbent will develop and implement local compliance procedures in alignment with corporate policies and procedures.  Responsible for maintaining all compliance records, screens proposed exports and individual export license applications and functions as the focal point for export compliance issues and questions. 

The incumbent will work with the various business areas and teams across the corporation to ensure that they plan for export compliance, trouble shoot export compliance issues, and stay compliant within the execution of their programs.

*         Interpreting and applying U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes to all items imported or exported

*         Assist the Compliance Manager to interface with and train internal customers, logistics partners, and Customs Brokers to ensure all products are classified prior to importation, or exportation.

*         Work with the Compliance team to ensure compliance with all other government agencies and regulations that may be involved

*         Assign (ECCN) Export Commodity Classification Numbers for exports

*         Locate License Exception when applicable

*         Work with outside brokers and freight forwarders

*         Work with external vendors and all internal departments to acquire information, i.e. engineering, purchasing, marketing, customer service, etc.

*         Maintain record keeping databases and other compliance tracking tools

*         Create necessary documents and procedures to adhere to compliance requirements

*         Research U. S. Custom rulings and International Trade Agreements, and accurately applying those applicable to Amsted Rail products

*         Assist with the development and enforcement of import/export compliance policies and procedures, including but not limited to Customs, C-TPAT, NAFTA, ISF, etc.

*         Coordinate international freight movements inclusive of scheduling, routing, customs, and supplier coordination

*         Coordinate and administer brokerage, forwarding, and export shipments

*         Responsible for NAFTA solicitations and duty treatment of imported and exported merchandise. Prepare NAFTA and COO certificates as necessary

*         Other duties, as assigned by the Import/Export Manager

*         Four-year degree.

*         Minimum 5 years experience in transportation compliance

*         Certified in Dangerous Goods logistics a plus

*         Excellent project and team management skills

*         Thorough knowledge of state, federal and international import/export laws

*         Knowledge of Microsoft, Oracle, and PIMS applications

*         Strong verbal and written skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

*         Strong analytical and organizational skills with focused attention on detail

*         Ability to get along with diverse personalities while remaining tactful, professional and flexible

*         Exceptionally good customer service skills

*         High School Degree, with additional course work and training in word processing, spreadsheet, and database management.

*         2-3 years education and/or experience in international transportation/logistics, or import/export trade compliance
