Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the largest Asset Management firm globally. You will be a senior team member of dynamic, expanding global Trade Operations team responsible for supporting trade lifecycle across all funds and asset types (equity, fixed income and derivatives) held within BlackRock.
The team and individuals role requires all trade activity is captured, validated and instructions released to custodians / counterparties within designated deadlines.
You will complete these activities in accordance with BlackRock's best practices. You will work in a dynamic environment and ensure that your Team Leader/Manager is notified of all material service issues/risk items on a timely basis and work to resolve these as a matter of priority.
You will build and maintain effective working relationships with fellow team members, other BlackRock departments, custodian banks and third party service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring all trades for assigned portfolios are confirmed with counterparties (via CTM or manually) and trade instructions are sent to custodians for settlement
- Communicating with the Trust Bank for all products
- Establish and maintain excellent communication with onshore Japanese Brokers, internal external contacts
- Own tasks through to delivery as delegate by Management
- As a senior member within the team, guide, assist and mentor other team members as appropriate
- Responsible for ensuring all trades hit Aladdin dashboard from downstream systems and resolve or escalate any issues
- Ensure any trades that are not confirmed and sent to the fund accountant for inclusion in the unit price are escalated to the relevant parties (Australia portfolio specific)
- Responsible for assisting in new Fund launches, working with Brokers to ensure set up ready to trade.
- Interact with other BlackRock teams and the third parties/custodians as appropriate.
- Escalate all material risk items (such as large fails) and service issues to your Team Leader on a timely basis.
- Maintain and update operational procedures and ensure appropriate compliance.
- Identify any key risk areas or opportunities for process improvements with the local and offshore model
- Where appropriate cross-train or share your knowledge with local and offshore colleagues
- Establish and maintain professional and effective internal and external relationships with all clients/counterparties.
Training Personal Development
- You will ensure that you are fully trained in the functions you are required to perform, identifying for your Team Leader any outstanding training requirements maintaining on an ongoing basis your competence for the responsibilities assigned to you.
- Achieve threshold competence in trade operations core competencies within period agreed with your manager.
- Maintain competence for role through ongoing participation in BlackRock training initiatives.
- Achieve and maintain understanding of all financial instruments utilised within your portfolio group.
- Participate in Blackrock annual review process and draft goals/objectives for your development in conjunction with your Team Leader and Manager.
- Maintain full knowledge of Blackrock corporate policies, procedures and guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years experience with Fixed Income, Equity, FX Future knowledge, preferably in Trade or Sales Support role (less product experience may be considered)
- Operations experience in buy side firm (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent communication in Japanese and English is essential
- Experience in dealing with the Japanese Trust Bank
- Experience or good understanding of Euroclear and domestic settlements especially in the Japanese Market
? Good understanding of electronic confirmation workflow (OMGEO CTM, Oasys Global)

- Ability and comfortable to communicate at all levels
- Ability to cover Team Leader/Manager responsibilities when required
