Macquarie Funds Group (MFG) is Macquarie Group's funds management business. MFG is a full-service asset manager, offering a diverse range of capabilities and products including infrastructure and real asset management, securities investment management and structured access to funds, equity-based products and alternative assets. The group had $A324 billion in assets under management as at 30 September 2011.
MFG has been managing assets for pension funds, institutions and retail investors since 1980 in Australia and 1929 in the US (through Delaware Investments). The trade support team within MFG is looking for an enthusiastic person to assist in the creation and maintenance of an efficient and controlled environment for the processing of structured products. This role presents an ideal opportunity to join MFG operations at an entry level, into a strong team environment where you will gain exposure across the MFG business.
Key Accountabilities:
- Trade verification and monitoring
- Pre and post settlement checks
- Monitoring of cash movements
- Trade verification and monitoring
- Position uploads and reconciliations
- Reconciliations
- The development of relationships and accordingly must be able to deal with people in many situations
- Implementing ideas which will increase the efficiency and accuracy of the team
Key Requirements
- Some experience in an operations or custody role, structured products/OTC knowledge is an advantage
- A strong knowledge of operational procedures and controls is a must, as well as an understanding of why these procedures are required
- A good understanding of the risk associated with hedge fund trading
- The ability to make decisions quickly in a pressured environment
- Confident and assertive
- A pro-active nature and the ability to take initiative to resolve issues as required
- The ability to think laterally in order to prevent and perceive processing issues and errors
- Tertiary qualifications highly desirable.
