Trade Support AVP / M – iBank, HK$60K, 6 months to perm recruitment
The Company
One of the world's leading financial services firm is looking for an experienced Trade Support AVP / Manager to join their Equity Finance team. The firm has investment banking, corporate banking, and retail banking business. International presence with over 700 offices worldwide and over 150,000 employees worldwide. This role will initially be a 6 months contract with a view to permanency depending on performance.
The Role
Team structure: total approximately 125 people spread across the different global teams (Trading Hubs: London, HK, NY, and Tokyo). The responsibilities of the team include Trading and Sales support for the different Equity Businesses as well as acting as an independent control function.
As a Trade Support Manager, you are a valuable team member into the Synthetic Equity Finance Trade Support Group to ensure there is sufficient oversight of the trade flow processes. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Supporting the Synthetic Equity Finance Structured trading desk by handling all post-execution derivatives trade lifecycle events
- Processing cash/non-cash corporate actions, fixings, and payment actualizations on derivative instruments
- Validating Equity Finance derivative instruments and transactions
- Static data setup maintenance: OTC instrument setup maintenance of various static data tables
- Reviewing various derivatives front office-back office position and payment break reports
- Run and validate various End-of-Day control reports
- Fielding resolution of queries from both Front, Middle and Back Office areas
- Ad-hoc project work in both strategic and tactical initiatives, liaison with Business Analysts to assist in business requirements gathering
- Act as the primary point of contact for the business and operational partners to ensure that existing processes and new products within the space are managed effectively from front to back.
The role is a business facing role and will involve a significant amount of contact with both the Trading Desks and also the Business Management teams supporting the Equity Derivative business. The successful candidate will need to build relationships with key stakeholders and also use their influence to drive change to processes that are managed outside of the Operations team.
Your Profile
- At least 5 years of related experience
- Have a detailed knowledge of the Operational requirements to support an Equity Derivative business. This will include a working knowledge of the Validation, Confirmation, Life Cycle Management, Settlement, Reconciliation and Valuation processes.
- Have an in-depth understanding of the mechanics of the full range of Equity Derivative products including Sales and Trading booking processes, cash flow calculation, intra day and end of day PL processes, key operational controls, and lifecycle events.
- Knowledge of the following products: Equity Swaps, Portfolio Swaps, Equity Certificates is preferred but other products exposure is welcome.
- Sound knowledge of cash and non-cash Corporate Action processing and experience of dividend FOBO break resolution
- Have an understanding of the front-to-back flow and roles performed by other support functions such as Market Risk, Finance, Legal, and Credit.
- Manages and organises themselves to maximise effectiveness and prioritise workflow.
- Monitors and resolves all control issues in as short a time as possible and escalates appropriately.
- Has proven ability to think outside the box and challenge the status quo.
- Has proven ability of process improvement.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- IT literate - strong Excel skills beneficial but not mandatory.
- Immediately available is highly preferred and will be considered first.
