Trader Project Manager / Onboarding recruitment
The Project Manager / Trader Onboarder is responsible for:
• ensuring new Portfolio Managers are taken from the contract negotiation phase to being up and trading in a controlled and timely manner;
• assessing the needs of existing Portfolio Managers, communicating those needs to management and, working together with the Regional Business Manager to ensure those needs are being met;
• managing implementation of approved projects for existing Portfolio Managers in the Asia region.
The Project Manager needs to able to multi task, manage competing resources, and solve business problems independently. The successful candidate will be well versed in equity and fixed income products and have a proven ability to gain the trust of traders, middle office, back office, and technology.
- Responsible for coordination of all tasks associated with transitioning a new trader to the hedgefund platform by partnering closely with the new trader as well as the legal, compliance, administration, technology, and operations teams.
- Responsible for understanding, documenting, and maintaining a trading group’s profile and being the point person in understanding how to manage the group’s activity.
- Work with trading groups to promote adoption of strategic solutions, vendors, brokers, systems and trading venues to optimize the firm's economies of scale and manage costs.
- Manage projects associated with new and existing trader platform build-outs; Serve as the representative for the trading management function to ensure all new implementations are in line with company policy, compliance, and business strategy.
- Provide reporting to management in response to ad-hoc or reoccurring requests pertaining to traders and their activity, and support management assessment of ad-hoc or recurring requests.
- Business sponsor for new initiatives and projects to enhance the firm’s platform including outlining of objectives, development of specifications and overall coordination.
Experience Required -
- 8-10 years experience working at a financial services firm or Hedge Fund in an operational, prime brokerage or trading capacity
- Knowledgeable in a wide range of markets and trading strategies including but not limited to Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Futures, Index Arb, Merger Arb, Electronic/Quantitative strategies, Stat Arb, etc.
- Strong understanding of trading technology
- In depth knowledge of prime brokerage operations and financing structure
- Experienced with Prime Broker structures, support models, pricing, and capabilities
- Working knowledge of the operations side of the hedge fund business
- Familiarity with trade processing and relevant regulatory rules governing the firm’s market trading activities
- Problem solver with ability to work with limited direction and supervision in a fast paced environment; multi-tasking ability
- Superior leadership skills with the ability to get teams to perform well together
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to gain portfolio managers and senior managers trust; Provides timely and well written updates on projects
- Ability to work alone, drive projects, and work expeditiously
- Detail oriented with strong organization skills and ability to add structure to unstructured requests
- Adaptive to changing priorities and ability to respond effectively to urgent requests
