Trades Specialist Lead I

Duties and Responsibilities Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits and equipment. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical, using suitable testing instruments. Examines and tests elements of electrical systems to locate obvious faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes. Replaces faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures and appliances. Renews circuits either by isolating and cutting off defective wiring and replacing it with new wiring or by splicing ends of broken wires. Replaces defective equipment parts such as gears, bushings and bearing and other electrical parts. As required, estimates materials needed and records time and materials expended on each work order. Will have minor supervisory duties when helper is assigned to assist in the work of the electrician. Performs snow removal duties such as shoveling, sanding, salting, spraying and operating snow removal equipment during regular work hours and off hours when called out. Will be considered essential personnel. Will be required to respond to emergency situations during regular work shift and off hours. Will be required to work special events, such as graduations, sporting events and set up for these events. Lifts, carries, pushes or pulls a variety of electrical materials such as cables, conduits, fixtures and equipment. Must be able to lift 100lbs and carry 75lbs. Climbs ladders, balances, stoops, kneels and crouches to gain access to electrical wiring, etc. Be able to work from ladders, scaffolding and lifts at heights up to 100ft. Works with hand tools. Be able to use testing and metering tools of the electrical trade. Works inside and out in all weather conditions. Minimum Qualifications Over two years and up to three years of experience; however, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable which provides an applicant the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities and the capability to perform the essential functions of the job. Required Skills: The ability to troubleshoot the electrical systems/fire and emergency systems and be able to determine between them. The ability to make informed and responsible decisions. The ability to operate a bobcat (skid steer), backhoe, forklift, bucket-lift, and snow removal equipment. Work at heights up to 100 feet.
