Office Switzerland
Optiver plans to expand its activities to a new office in Switzerland in 2013. To support the activities in our new office, we are looking for experts in IT, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Mid Office and HR who can make a real impact to help Optiver grow further.
You will be working within a start-up environment, while being part of a professional international trading company with around 27 years of knowledge and expertise. Together with a small team, you’ll get the chance to make our new office a success.
What you’ll do
As a Trading Application Engineer you will be responsible for the availability and performance of key Trading applications and systems. This role involves technical trouble shooting, managing application performance and liaising with the end-user regarding requests.
With your distinct IT skills and strong affinity for financial markets, you’re able to run a complex and dynamic Trading environment. You will be in direct contact with highly skilled and engaged colleagues such as Developers, System Engineers, Researchers and Traders. On top of that you will constantly search for the best solutions to improve our business performance. You know what it means to take responsibility and you are aware that your actions have a direct impact on our PL.
In short, as a Trading Application Engineer you will:
- Make sure that our complex Trading systems are up and running and solve any issues to guarantee Traders can use their systems at the opening of the market;
- Control deployment of new Trading functionalities in existing Trading- and Exchange systems;
- Participate in setting up complete new Trading- and Exchange systems at new locations;
- Examine the Trading flow to the Exchange and optimise new Trading strategies by analysing large sets of data;
- Spend time on the Trading floor with traders to understand the business in order to contribute to our performance.
We are looking for people who can start in our Amsterdam office for approx. two months to get familiar with our systems, and afterwards move to our office in Switzerland. Travel between the two offices might be part of the job.
What you’ll need
Besides the skills below, we are looking for people with an entrepreneurial and hands-on attitude that can take ownership and excel in a startup environment were a high level of self-responsibility is needed.
- Have experience in Unix (and preferably with Windows and/or databases);
- Scripting skills like Bash, SQL, Perl, Python, VB script and PowerShell are highly appreciated;
- An interest in Trading/Finance;
- A structured work approach;
- Be a team player with excellent communication skills in both English and preferably German;
- General knowledge about networking;
- Bachelor or Master degree level, preferably in a technical field.
