Traffic Dispatcher & Manager Job in Burgettstown 15021, Pennsylvania Us
The position will hold the title of Dispatcher and will be responsible for the scheduling of our vehicles for customer calls. The Dispatcher will be responsible for receiving work orders from the sales force and preparing the necessary paperwork for each job which includes a manifest, service receipts, and sometimes waste profiles. The Dispatcher creates daily schedules by scheduling jobs on specific days and specific times in order to create the most time efficient and cost effective route for the drivers. In addition the Dispatcher communicates with and tracks route drivers, monitors transportation pricing, and coordinates with disposal sites. A basic understanding of on-site operations is needed to handle potential issues and ensure jobs run smoothly.
Duties:
* Determines time and resources required for jobs and schedules them on the appropriate days to ensure completion
* Tracks jobs to ensure completion to customer expectations and any follow up work that may be needed
* Responds to driver concerns and questions
* Monitors drivers hours
* Monitors truck and rolloff maintenance needs
* Directs transportation of materials from customer site to various destinations
* Determines routing and method of transportation by studying maps and considering dates and times of waste pick-ups to create the most efficient routes.
* Controls scheduling of jobs by notifying customers of arrival dates.
* Protects shipments by investigating causes of damages or shortages in consignments or overcharges for freight or insurance.
* Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
* Provides information by answering questions and requests.
* Prepares reports as requested by customers by collecting relevant paperwork
* Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
* Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation.
* Plays a role in recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
* Maintains traffic department staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
* Contributes to team effort by taking a pro-active role in solving problems and personally ensuring company tasks and operations are accomplished smoothly.
Skills/Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess working knowledge of DOT and RCRA regulations. They will possess exceptional organizational and communication skills and be able to work in fast paced work environment where priorities and workloads are constantly in flux. The position requires person with a creative thought process who is extremely detail oriented.
