Trainee Derivatives Trader recruitment
You would primarily hold responsibility for reconciling positions and managing your own small speculative position. The role provides great potential and opportunity for organic growth with the intention of increasing your trading responsibilities and diminishing your back office duties over time.
You must be a highly organised, self-motivated person that displays great initiative and works well as part of a team; willing to undertake a variety of tasks as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Back-office (50%)
• Issue trade execution confirmations to clients and suppliers.
• Monitor the overall physical basis position and net market position. Establish the daily position report and distribute to traders and management.
• Reconcile all futures and options trades.
• Enter futures and options trades into the in-house system.
• Switch fixation month as per clients’ orders and issue contract amendments.
• Complete daily and monthly reporting for the department.
Trading (50%)
• Manage own profit levels whilst trading within agreed limits.
• Conduct technical and fundamental analysis of the coffee market.
• Execute futures and options for senior traders.
• Work closely with your line manager on direction and premium income trades.
• Take orders from clients and suppliers to hedge physical coffee contracts, executing these orders either via a broker or the electronic trading system.
• Advise clients regarding the switch policy.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
• 3-5 years working within a Trading or Banking environment with back office experience. Derivatives trading experience would be preferable.
• Sound knowledge of futures and options.
• Determined and resilient with a desire to make a long term contribution to the business.
• Entrepreneurial spirit; able to adjust to change quickly and be keen to take on new challenges.
• A strong interest in the agricultural commodities industry.
• Proficient IT skills are crucial, particularly Excel for sending out and collating information.
• Excellent business English is a requirement.
• Committed team player who is willing to be flexible and assist with a whole range of tasks to support your colleagues.
