Trainee Trader / Market Maker for European equity index derivatives
Preferred candidates:
- have a strong desire to become a trader / market maker
- have a talent for math and numeracy
- work well under pressure and thrive in fast-paced action
- are fluent in English
- are disciplined and able to put their ego aside when necessary
- are dependable and able to solve problems autonomously
- are able to communicate in a precise and swift fashion
- are autodidacts
- have a no-nonsense attitude and are keen to explore and understand truths
- have a genuine interest in financial markets and trading, and ideally already have some knowledge about futures and options
Main responsibilites:
- reporting to the head trader as their assistant during the trading day
- entering trades into the system and crossing them on the exchange
- liasing with brokers, our clearer, and the exchange
- delta-hedging with futures
- preparing morning and evening reports
- performing clerking duties for the desk
- participating in options theory classes and mock trading sessions
Your background:
Whilst we prefer candidates with some background in finance or economics we want to encourage anyone who feels that they fit the above description, as we will not discard your application purely based on your educational background. Instead, we will consider all candidates based on their overall impression. Certain personality traits and talents are much more important to us than what courses you took in university!
