Transaction Monitoring Analyst

A well-known Corporate Investment Bank in the city is looking to recruit for AML Transaction Monitoring Analyst to expand the team further post implementation of new systems. You will be responsible to provide support, advice and guidance on suspicious activity and transaction analysis.

Responsibilities:

-Undertake ongoing risk based monitoring of International Banking transactions in-line with Group AML Policy Standard.
-Conduct full case investigation of all escalated AML alerts, utilising internal/ external sources/systems, to conclude a recommended action.
-Assisting in timely preparation and transmission of SARs or other reports, as assigned.
-Conduct targeted review of High Risk Correspondent Bank transactional activities to identify red flags and higher risk characteristics of the account.
-Establish timely review schedules and identification and monitoring of “Red Flags” on targeted Customers (Inc. Correspondent Banks).
-Provide oversight on defining the scope of targeted reviews, ‘Red Flags’ and appropriate investigation protocols.
-Contribute to the formulation of standards, systems and procedures by providing technical input and developing procedures in support of the team’s objectives.
-Support the implementation of policies, guidelines and procedures within the scope of responsibility, reviewing their quality and efficiency; formulate recommendations for improvement in line with best practice, statutory requirements and business objectives.
-Support the development, implementation and monitor quality assurance regimes for own discipline, which comply with statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements, to ensure work in assigned area is delivered to the necessary standard.
-Support projects or programmes with clear overall objectives, planning and developing approach and ensuring delivery within cost, time and quality standards to enhance business effectiveness.
-Provide high-level business reporting to senior business leaders, identifying strategic market, sector and commercial issues.

Skills:

-Experience in reviewing transactions and information for potentially suspicious activity and performing AML or financial investigations within investment banking and transactional services banking environment (incl. Correspondent Banking)
-Knowledge of research trends, information, and industry best practice techniques related to money laundering within the Banking environment.
-Experience in utilising research/investigative databases and software application to analyse and detect transaction patterns and trends.
-Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including pivot tables.
-Well versed in AML and Terrorist Financing emerging trends.
-Technical acumen to extract the required payment and client information from banking systems and client on boarding/ KYC systems.
-Knowledge of SWIFT Messages and be able to interpret the relevant fields.
-Political, social and economic knowledge of countries that are major players in the global economy.
