Transducer Design Engineer Job in Minneapolis 55401, Minnesota US
This Transducer Design Engineer will report to a Managing Principal Engineer in the Transducer Design group at Seagate's RD site in Bloomington, MN.
Seagate is looking for a magnetic recording transducer design engineer to work as part of a development team to define, integrate, and
productize the latest transducer technology for drive applications in all
market segments.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Work with the process team to define, track, and
analyze transducer experiments, as well as investigating problems. - Collaborate with drive design center on head
integration. Interact with cross-functional teams to ensure that drive
requirements are being met and that yield, performance, and reliability goals
are met. - Request component performance testing, analyze
resulting data, and make recommendations to technology, process, and drive
system integration teams. - Work with the failure analysis group to understand
root cause of failure modes and drive for corrective actions - Participate in new test development for physics
understanding and testing efficiency improvement - Will prepare, present and defend data and
conclusions while maintaining communication with other Seagate
sites and all levels of management. - Limited amounts (months/year) of foreign and domestic travel are necessary.
Requirements:
- BSEE in EE/Physics/MatSci with 10 years
work experience is required as a minimum. - Must have an in-depth,
demonstrated experience of magnetic physics, with strong preference given to
magnetic recording industry experience. - Demonstrated leadership skills through
team leadership or project management is required. - Excellent
communication and people interaction skills are
a must. - Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Applicant needs to be able to work independently on design and analysis,
and must also be able to contribute as a team member. - Excellent analytical and problem solving
skills are critical. - Requires (months/year) of foreign and domestic travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in magnetics (EE, Physics or
Materials Science) desired; Masters in
EE/Physics/MatSci with 2-3 years
work experience strongly preferred; - A good background in statistical analysis is helpful (DFSS, DOE, SQL).
- Experience
in product development, device integration, and/or electrical test data
characterization is also a plus.
