Transmission Line Design Engineer

Job Description Within the Transmission and Distribution Group, we design transmission lines and substations. Our experienced transmission line designers carry out a wide variety of projects ranging from upgrades to new works. Project sizes complexity range from line terminating span changes at substations, to 350 kV HVDC tower strengthening violation mitigation, to a new 500 kV double circuit line, rated for 3000A, with a length of 250 km. Our clients include Transmission Distribution Utilities, and Generators wanting to connect wind farms or geothermal power stations to the grid. We have both national and international clients. The role is specialist transmission line design in combination with an integrated project management delivery service. The latter includes line route investigations, co-ordination with geotechnical engineers and practical application in support of the construction works. The role will appeal to engineers who wish to develop their technical, project management people skills. We seek Transmission Line Design Engineers with at least 5 years experience, including structural and foundation designs, PLS-CADD modelling and the preparation of stringing /sagging charts. Alternatively, you maybe a Civil/Structural Engineer with 5 years experience who is looking to specialise in the design of transmission line towers. Or, you may have designed communication towers / similar structures or have worked in the construction industry seeking a more extensive design role. As a logical, proactive problem solver with strong communication skills (oral and written) you will need to be a natural team player.
