This organisation is a major logistics business offering a range of supply chain services. Established over forty years ago they have earned a reputation with some of Australias largest organisations as a logistics provider of choice. The transport operation is currently their largest revenue stream with a large fleet of company owned trucks and sub-contractors. As part of a strategic business plan, a significant change programme is planned to support some aggressive growth within the transport market to update and modernise their operations positioning them in the future as the leader within their sector of the transport industry. A true leader with ability to be hands on is required to take over the running of this busy operation.

The role overseas a significant transport budget and has full business responsibility including PL, operations, safety and key account management. Day to day tasks will be to ensure the operation runs in a profitable and safe manner fully utilising all company resources including people, equipment, technology and internal service providers. There is significant opportunity for process improvement to update and modernise the operation as such adhoc improvement projects are a part of this role. As well as managing the daily operations with a headcount of up to 100 personnel and a supervisory team, additional responsibilities will include union negotiations, representing the transport business internally and externally, dealing with and negotiating with service providers, financial reporting and stakeholder management. This is a senior management appointment and will report directly into the Managing Director.

We are hoping to attract a high calibre transport manager with proven ability to lead and manage a business under difficult operational circumstances. Being a true change agent, influencer and hands on transport professional will ensure success in this role. In the past you will have been responsible for a transport business managing multiple stakeholders internally and externally and the service of a demanding client set subject to multiple supply chain challenges and unpredictability. Ability to deal directly with senior level clients is essential in this role and supporting the dedicating business development team. Experience within container transport would be highly regarded.
