Transport Manager Job in Hazerswoude-Rijndijk 2394AJ, Zuid Holland Netherlands
Main Responsibilities:
The Transportation Manager has overall responsibility accountability of all outbound (and to a lesser degree inbound) transportation activities between sites and from sites to customers.
Tasks:
- Establish a regional operational strategy for the development and management of the road freight network, both internal (between sites) and external (from sites to customers)
- Create and manage the transport budget of € 50+ MM annualized
- Develop Key Performance Measures to monitor success of road freight services, carrier performance and growth and efficiency of transport products.
- Define communications processes that mandate dialogue between regional and/or country organisations and operational entities.
- Define appropriate Management Info Systems, based on the IT system, to measure the effectiveness of Key Performance Indicators, carrier utilisation and service quality.
- Establish policies for all of the above and put in place mechanisms to ensure that they are adhered to, while complying to SOX and other prescribed procedures
- Initiate, manage execute optimization and cost reduction efforts to continuously reduce cost base
- Ownership for freight cost reporting and provides improvement
- Select and contract carriers to support our delivery reliability to our customers
- Analyze and follow up on the execution and service-levels provided by the external carrier’s hubs that we have contracts with
- Assist on upgrade of service levels and quality standards through implementation of continuous service improvement and sustainable efficiency increases and projects
- Development and communication of standard performance metrics with all shipping locations;
- Support implementation of new transport strategies in alignment with site, business and customer service requirements

Experience:
- Academic background or work experience at that level in related.
- Proven track record of at least 8–10 years in the industry with 2-3 years at policy setting level
- Strong entrepreneurial manager
- Demonstrated continuous professional development by experience and education
- Strategic insight and analytical strength
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in English; other additional languages are an added value.
- Proven assertiveness and impact in business challenges, tempered with empathy for persons and situations.
- Experience in managing at a distance (geographically) and multi level experience.
- Results driven, able to motivate diverse teams to achieve quality results.
- Experience / affinity with Oracle / SAP order management implementations
- Experience in managing transport outsourcing projects
- 5 years experience in PL responsibility
- Personality based on a healthy sense of humour, flexibility and at the same time firmness; strong in character.
- Willingness to spend up to 70% of time travelling
