We are currently recruiting for a Transportation Manager for our Transportation operations based out of Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Louisville, Cincinnati, Columbus or Cleveland market. Job Summary To manage the district's transportation function across a business line to ensure efficient and responsive customer service by leading and coaching a high performance team and complying with federal, state and IM regulations. To synchronize all aspects of transportation functions with other operations functions within the assigned district or outside district if necessary. Essential Functions * Ensure that we provide the most secure, safe, reliable transportation of our customer s information. * Supervision and assignment of specific responsibilities to all transportation personnel, which includes route delivery. * Ensuring prompt and accurate delivery/pick- up of all service requests for customers, and other transportation activities as required by the needs of the company and the customer base. * Manage department performance through motivation, monitoring and coaching. * Establish and consistently meet/exceed department service goals and objectives. * Analyze the transportation function in order to achieve maximum efficiency and quality service. * Evaluate and implement changes for staffing levels, work schedules, procedures and workflow processes. * Meet with your department regularly to review service levels/performance and obtain feedback. * Administer HR policies including constructive discipline; develop and monitor individual action plans. Assess and define department training needs and participate in cross training, on-the-job training and new hire training. Job Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Bachelor s degree is preferred. * 5-7 years of management skills within a transportation capacity, preferably in a service industry. * Strong organizational, verbal and written skills. * Transportation/Fleet Service experience, which includes customer processing, route delivery procedures and basic security and operational procedures. * Understanding of how to motivate and provide supportive leadership for those supervised. This would include practicing a coaching style of management that utilizes collaborative and team directed approaches to managing employees. * Knowledge of business processes such as profit and loss, profit margins, accounting, and other related principles. * Understanding and ability to manage to DOT requirements. * Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment, cases, metal containers, or boxes in excess of 40-70 lbs. * Proficient with MS Office and comfortable learning new technology. The ideal applicant will have current exp. in transportation/fleet service and DOT requirements.
