Transportation Planner/Engineer

Primary Job Responsibilities Senior level Transporatation Planner. Performs all aspects of planning and analysis under minimal supervision. Works under general supervision, participates in setting assignment objectives; work is reviewed for adequacy on completion. May provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel. Develops plans for utilization of land and physical facilities of cities, counties, and metropolitan areas, applying diverse knowledge of planning principles and practices: Compiles and analyzes data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use, and prepares or requisitions graphic and narrative reports on data: Confers with local authorities, civic leaders, social scientists, and land planning and development specialists to devise and recommend strategies for land use and physical facilities for residential, commercial, industrial, and community uses: May review and evaluate environmental impact reports applying to specified private and public planning projects and programs. Training and Experience a minimum of 15 years of experience required, BS or MS in a technical discipline Other Essential Functions The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative analysis methods and procedures in transportation planning, including analysis for environmental impact statements, corridor studies, transit studies, travel demand forecasting projects, preparation of transportation / land use studies, corridor studies, comprehensive plan development / updates, major investment studies, alternatives analyses, and public involvement activities. The position requires strong communication and presentation skills, client relations skills and commitment to working in a team environment.
