An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Treasury Associate to join the International Banking and Custody team in Geneva.
Team Overview:
The Private Bank International Banking and Custody Team is composed of 4 members. As the Treasury Associate, you will be primarily responsible for managing the Treasury position of the various legal entities of JP Morgan’s International Private Bank. You will work closely with the Regulatory Reporting, Finance and Corporate Treasury teams. You will evaluate the impact of regulatory changes across the various jurisdictions JP Morgan’s International Private Bank operates within and develop plans for how to implement the required changes to the Treasury model. You will be the primary contact point for all Treasury related queries for the International Private Bank and will help provide cover for the Deposit desk when required. You will report into the head of International Treasury Manager for the Private Bank and will be based in Geneva.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include:
Funding:
• Calculating and communicating daily funding requirements for Private Bank’s legal entities for senior Treasury approval
• Setting asset and liability pricing strategy; providing fair, consistent, and readily available pricing to all clients and internal business heads
• Optimising the rate of return on capital and cost of funds, subject to policy constraints set by the Board and by the Treasury Corporate policy
• Managing key external sources of funds
• Optimising the utilisation of collateral
• Providing advisory services to the business
Cash Management: Working closely with the Cash Reconciliations team
• Monitoring daily cash movements and transfers performed by the Geneva and Mumbai hub
• Monitoring the Geneva and Mumbai hub performance of daily Nostro balance and activity reconciliation
• Managing relationships with correspondent banks, including Corporate Treasury
• Recommending, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring the list of Approved Interbank Counterparties with senior Treasury approval
Capital Management: Working closely with the Financial Controller
• Implementing, monitoring, and influencing the Management Committee’s capital strategy
• Influencing definition and maintenance of the Legal Entities structure
• Investing capital of JPMIB JPMS in accordance with approved policy and senior Treasury approval
• Recommending, implementing, and monitoring capital hedging activities
Liquidity Risk:
• Monitoring funding (sources, composition, maturity profile, day-to-day volatility of flows)
• Timely and consistent review of overall liquidity risk. Be aware of industry liquidity risk assumptions provided by Liquidity Risk Policy
• Signing off all liquidity and connected exposure regulatory reports for further submission to our UK regulatory team
• Reviewing all liquidity and connected exposure regulatory reports for further submission to our UK regulatory team and submitting for senior Treasury approval
• Running quarterly liquidity stress tests
• Maintaining a Liquidity Risk Policy which includes the Contingency Funding Plan
Foreign Exchange:
• Reviewing open foreign exchange positions and managing the required position limits
Skills required
• B.A. or B.Sc. degree
• Previous experience in financial services industry
• Strong analytical skills; excellent aptitude for numbers
• Excel in a fast paced environment
• Fluency in English is essential and French or German is beneficial
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
