Operational Risk Control (ORC) is an independent function which is responsible for the implementation of the Operational Risk Framework (ORF) across UBS. Roles within this function provide an independent and objective assessment of all operational risks across the Bank.

ORC is responsible for:

Providing an independent and objective assessment of operational risk arising in the firm
Assessing the integrity of each function to identify operational risk and the adequacy of the operational risk management techniques employed
Assessing whether functions have set clear standards and responsibilities where business processes cover multiple functions
Escalating all high and critical operational risks
Providing independent review on both internal and external events
Raising awareness within the Bank of the importance of our approach to operational risk, as part of the on-going initiative to embed it into the Bank's culture

ORC has a team of Operational Risk Controllers for each Business Division covering front-to-back risks. To complement the Business Division aligned structure, the Function is establishing specialist teams, which look at the significant risks facing the Bank on a cross-divisional basis.

The Treasury Risk Operational Risk controller will be responsible for reviewing compliance with the ORC Framework within the Group Treasury area and specialise in the assessment of the risks that the firm may fail to manage its funding, balance sheet, capital and liquidity resources. This is a new role within the Finance, SOX and Treasury Risk team which is responsible for the independent oversight of Financial Reporting (including SOX) and Treasury Risk. The successful candidate will be required to establish the work and the review schedule but this will encompass:

Establishing an approach for the review of the internal control assessment processes as they relate to Group Treasury
Defining and agreeing the annual plan of the Operational Risk assessment for the Group Treasury function
Ensuring that the risk inventory represents an accurate view of risks and supports the relevant function's activities in that area.
Carry out risk assessments and investigations, independently and as part of the team, with the objective of ensuring that the bank's Treasury risks are transparent to the business.
Independently assess the function's ORF implementation and the operational risk assessment process being used by management to determine whether all risks have been identified, the rating is appropriate and the risk issue is fully described, with an appropriate action owner, and acceptable timelines for mitigation.
Supporting the annual SOX 404 assessment for delivery to the SOX 404 committee and the Group CFO in respect of Group Treasury risks
Establishing themselves as a trusted partner of the Treasury Function and the broader Finance function.

We are looking for a candidate with strong relationship building and communication skills who has a demonstrated ability to work effectively with and influence people across organizations. The candidate must be a self-starter and entrepreneurial with relevant experience in a global organization and strong knowledge of banking, capital markets, trading activity and cross-product support functions with a focus on Treasury activities. This role requires specific technical knowledge and practical experience of Treasury activities.

Control expertise - Must possess strong knowledge of internal control design, traded product front-to-back processes, cross-product support (incl. roles and responsibilities) and risk management principles.
Functional experience - Must have experience in one or more of trading, product control, middle office, operations, business management, risk control, compliance and auditing (ideally combined with more recent functional experience);
Product knowledge ? Must have strong technical knowledge of Treasury activities and capital management.
Business experience ? Must have experience in a global, multicultural, performance-driven organization; must have experience in process and organizational design; knowledge of Basel II and Sarbanes-Oxley preferred
Industry experience ? Must have knowledge of banking/securities industry regulatory, legal and accounting frameworks in UK and EMEA.
