Treasury & Securities Technology – Functional Architect recruitment
The Treasury and Securities Technology organisation is looking for a Functional Architect for its Cash Business in Asia. This person will report to the head of a team of functional architects and business analysts working with IT teams across a wide range of applications portfolio and business representatives. Areas of responsibility include the following:
- Develop a region wide set of application roadmaps depicting the transition of the application infrastructure over time
- Streamline and improve the Business System Analysis activities for the whole Treasury Services Cash Technology Team
- Engage the business on short term and long term planning/business development as it pertains to the application solution set
- Work with the technical architecture team to ensure functional and technical architectures are aligned and reflect business priorities
The Treasury and Securities Functional Architecture and Business Analysis Team is responsible for the necessary enterprise and application level designs, available through the program/project lifecycles.. This team advises on project management, application development, quality assurance, infrastructure personnel and in some cases implementation personal on optimal approaches to achieving the solutions.
The Treasury and Securities Functional Architecture and Business Analysis Team's key goal is to ensure clear definition of high quality, reliable, cost-effective, timely delivery of IT systems for the business.
Key Requirements:
This role requires the following skills and background:
- At least five years in working in technology in investment banking or treasury services in Asia
- Demonstrated business understanding and understanding of work in a major financial services company
- At least 5 to 7 years experience conducting and leading business system analysis and functional architecture
- An extensive skill sit with demonstrated successful results in business system analysis including:
o Information modeling
o Functional modeling (including object oriented analysis)
o Business process modeling
o Business requirements collection and analysis
o Application architecture analysis
o Workshop/brainstorming facilitation
o Good business communication skills
o Experience working in multi-location, multi-country environments
This candidate, together with his or her team mates, will develop target state architectures to address key anticipated changes or new business strategies, as well as partner with the EMEA, USA, and Firm-wide Engineering and Architecture Teams. He or she will translate vision into action by partnering with delivery teams to develop and drive the IT strategy. This work requires a solid understanding of business and IT strategy, a principled approach to architectural challenges and opportunities, and a strong grasp of business, technology, and solutions.
The candidate must be experienced in presenting and explaining architectural views to clients from technical/IT staff to senior management to business leaders. In addition, this candidate will participate in the creation of reference roadmap architectures to help support and sustain emerging and future business and IT strategies. The candidate will be working in partnership with the IT teams to develop, present and explain architecture blueprints for Architecture Impact Assessment certification.
This role also involves execution of effective analysis methods and matrixed coordination and review of analysis across various technology teams support the treasury services business.

- Previous execution experience of mid-sized to large system design, development and deployment experience related to high data volume and efficient throughput is strongly preferred.
- Must have the ability to influence, guide and mentor other technical resources (sometimes business) and especially develop other architects or enlist others to carry out best practices of architecture in the course of their developing solutions
- Ability to develop designs and solutions that pay attention to architecture design quality, cost effectiveness and the inherent risks in approach while proposing credible and effective mitigations
- Ability to collaborate with teams across the firm in order to leverage previous experiences, utilities and shared capabilities
- Formulates solutions that are credible and holistic and take into consideration a broad array of factors that will shape the solution design. These include feasibility of testing, implementation, availability of skills for the technology, viability of relevant third parties
- Very knowledgeable about best practices, industry standards, open-source, emerging trends
- Good visualization and presentation skills to create visual models and experience using industry modeling tools
- Excellent team player with ability to communicate effectively with software engineers, infrastructure engineers, business analysts, and business managers
- Five to ten years experience in analyzing and specifying large-scale complex computer applications with at least three years in an architectural design leadership role
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent required
- Minimum of 5 years experience in financial services is preferred
