Truss Designer Job in K2K2E1

Job Description:
*Develop roof truss layouts from architectural drawings supplied by the customer.

*Prepare pre-engineered roof truss designs from the profiles provided from the roof truss layouts according to regional snow loads, local construction practices, and national building codes.

*Interpret architectural plans and assess structural and architectural deficiencies.

*Analyze structural requirements for posts and beams due to truss bearing points, distributed loads, and develop the appropriate beam and post designs.

*Interact with clients for design assistance and plan interpretation, advising clients of building code and framing requirements.

*Resolve issues with incorrect roof systems, whether from the design department or from the customer, by developing alternate ways of erecting the structure (new trusses, repair details, modified erection procedures).

*Identify areas of concern for framers, such as varying wall heights and other details that would be prone to error.

*Develop repair details as required under the supervision of the resident engineer.

*Specify required details such as truss hanger type, bolting and nailing patterns.

*Enter truss designs in to the MITEK MBA system to generate costing and manufacturing information.

*Interface with the Truss Shop, clients and Sales Department throughout the process, addressing and resolving issues as they may arise.

*Verification of colleagues� designs.

*Assist other Truss Designers with questions or problems as required

*Operate proprietary MITEK TrussFramer / Sapphire software for layout design and truss analysis.

*Maintain accurate customer files

*Integration of management database software into workflow of truss design department and other business units.

*Analysis of performance requirements for database system for quote and order process flow.

*Programming of server query language statements for custom report creation.

*Provide technical assistance in areas related to CAD system usage.

*Prepare and deliver corporate presentations of management software based on expected use-models and functional requirements.

*Other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Job Experience:
*Community College diploma in Architectural or Building Design

*A minimum of 3 years of work related experience in either truss, wall, or floor design

*Strong communication skills.

*Ability to read and interpret building plans

*Experienced in MiTek, Auto Cad, Windows XP / Windows 7, MS Word, Excel and Outlook 2003 or higher

*Experience in the Construction industry would be an asset
