The Firm:
My client is one of the UKs top independent accountancy firms in the South East and a leading adviser to owner-managed businesses in the Surrey region. They are currently seeking an experienced Trust Tax Manager to join a busy Private Client Tax team in the firm’s East Surrey office.
The Role:
As the Trust Tax Manager, reporting to the Partner, your role will be to provide trust tax advisory and compliance services to ensure that clients are compliant with the current UK taxation requirements and to provide advice and tax planning as required.
You will be working on a portfolio of clients consisting mainly of UK estates and both interest in possession and discretionary trusts, where both compliance and advice to families and executors/trustees is necessary. The role involves planning, monitoring deadlines and liaising with regulatory authorities. The key focus is on providing excellent client care as well as implementing business development initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
- Improving the systems for trust tax compliance.
- Control of the trust and estate tax area of the department.
- Dealing with all correspondence and advice on client trust tax matters.
- Assisting managers and partners with their client needs.
- Assisting Taxation Partner with more complex enquiries and planning
- Involvement in any enquiry matters.
- Maintaining regular communication with all clients and related 3rd parties
- Training and developing tax trainees for an assistant role
- Assistance with the development of the role in the context of the firm’s needs.
- Being a part of the firm’s private client tax team and assisting with technical back-up
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have the following criteria; ATT or CTA qualification with an interest to pursue STEP qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years post qualification practice experience
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the UK taxation requirements
- Experience in trust and private client tax planning
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to provide excellent client care
- Strong relationship building, networking and business development skills
