An international software house specialising in telecommunications is looking for a UI/Web Developer. The position offers a great opportunity to work with new and exciting technologies on a leading edge product within an Agile environment.
As a UI/Web Developer you will design and implement high and low latency applications for the telecommunications market. You will work in an agile team with close contact with other agile development teams, the common architecture team and solution managers to evolve the existing products and also to develop new solutions.
Key responsibilities of the UI/Web Developer will be:
• Designing, maintaining and evolving User Interfaces for our products and solutions
• Participating and assisting in defining and reviewing application requirements
• Reviewing design and implementation artefacts with responsibility for their quality and
conformance to defined standards and guidelines
• Responsibility for the quality and maintainability of user interfaces
• Creating and maintaining customer documentation
• Actively contributing to the team Coaching, mentoring and instructing software developers and
other team members
• Participating and managing technical design and project effort
• Participating in designing tools and environments for development and testing
• Participating in automated quality assessment design such as developing build and deployment
automation, test planning and automation, etc.
To be considered for this UI/Web Developer role you must have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. level degree in a numerate discipline or Computing or equivalent.
You must also have:
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience with responsibility for designing and maintaining
user interfaces with focus on usability aspects. Experience in agile software development is an
advantage.
• Good knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages;
Java, Flex/Actionscript
• Rudimentary knowledge on how RDMBS works; knowledge of SQL
• Understanding on CSS, HTML, Javascript
• Fluent in written and spoken English
Advantageous:
• Good knowledge of software development processes and tools
• Good knowledge of UNIX and Linux operating systems
• Good knowledge of software engineering tools
• Knowledge of ICT-networks
• Ability to tutor other team members
To be successful in this UI/Web Developer role you must be a confident communicator with clear and logical thinking and enjoy problem solving with strong troubleshooting skills and a natural team player.
