The Institutional Marketing team at BlackRock sets the marketing strategy and delivers client-centred marketing solutions for the institutional business channel. The Team partners with sales account managers across Europe, Middle East Africa and works closely with US, Asia Pacific and Latin American marketing teams. Key Channels supported include Pension Schemes, Consultants, Members of DC Pension Schemes, Financial Institutions, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Central Banks and Foundations/Endowments. The overall goals are to increase the likelihood of a sale, better meet client needs by influencing intellectual debate on relevant industry trends and to achieve Brand/Market leadership in core asset classes.
Job Description:
This is a new role based in London. This strategic marketer role will have a particular focus on the delivery of the marketing and communications strategy for the Defined Contribution Pension business in the UK. The UK DC Team is focused on becoming the Investment, Communication and Administration provider of choice in the Bundled DC market. This role will contribute significantly to achieving this goal by developing and implementing marketing plans for two very distinct audiences; the UK Pension Fund audience (Pension managers, HR directors, Trustees) and consumers who are members of those pension plans.
Building the BlackRock DC brand and Growing the DC business
- Develop short, medium and long-term marketing strategy to build external and internal profile of the BlackRock DC business
- Develop value proposition for institutional DC business including positioning and messaging and building appropriate infrastructure to deliver key objectives
- Contribute to growing the business by building a DC focused thought leadership programme and designing and implementing direct response and other marketing and PR campaigns across complete marketing mix. To be delivered in conjunction with investment communications, central MarComs, eBusiness and PR.
- Establish and develop relationships with key trade associations and public/professional bodies and in conjunction with Head of DC business and Head of DC Account management, coordinate BlackRock’s DC response to changes in public policy
- Consultations with and regular communications with the head of the DC business, Head of DC Communications and Head of DC Account Management on the business and marketing priorities, positioning, messaging and marketing strategy and activity.
- Coordination and reporting/metrics of marketing budgets and ROI for UK DC
- Content management of DC websites in line with DC web strategy messaging
- Event and conference sponsorship planning and execution in conjunction with Events team
- Execution of internal campaigns and generation of excitement around marketing activity
- Source of marketing expertise for the UK DC team
Building the BlackRock DC Member Communications Offering
In conjunction with the Head of DC Communications:
- Pro-actively contribute to the creative development of the DC communications service, working with the DC Communications team.
- Analyse, design and implement a best in breed member communications experience from BlackRock (including tools, web/digital/social media offering, literature etc.)
- Plan and implement regular member research and behavioural finance review programmes
- Develop and implement a targeted member communications marketing strategy in conjunction with DC communications team and new clients
- Ongoing quarterly/monthly updates to materials, tools and online content
Requirements:
- Degree in a relevant discipline, ideally with an MBA or honors
- VP Level with proven experience working predominately in a Business to Consumer environment. Experience in a Business to Business environment would also be very beneficial
- Experience working in a financial services environment – an asset management background would be advantageous.
- Be able to write communication pieces suitable for members
- Project management skills, including an ability to move projects forward in a complex environment
- A self starter/creative thinker with attention to detail and delivery focus
- Ability to integrate input from and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to liaise with management of all levels to drive and communicate strategy
