UK Tax Director recruitment
Responsibilities:
•Analyze existing corporate structure of group; recommend implement changes to optimize GE's tax position.
•Provide UK tax advice to the UK Home Lending business on day to day UK taxation questions arising, including on entity simplification projects and other regulatory driven proposals.
•Ensure the integrity of compliance data used for tax reporting, management reporting and forecasting for FPA projections.
•Review and sign off the ETR calculations.
•Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of external and internal tax compliance deliverables such as UK tax and VAT returns, FAS109 analyses, and tax account reconciliations.
•Review intercompany funding position; work with treasury and corporate tax teams to restructure debt facilities as needed.
•Work with corporate tax teams on audit defense in respect of UKHL issues.
•Provide UK tax advice and counsel to the business on corporate MA and finance raising proposals.
•Educate and train UK Home Lending associates on tax issues and opportunities.
•Supervise, manage, and mentor UK Tax Manager and UK Tax Controller who directly report to the UK Tax Director.
•Work effectively within a virtual matrix organization with the Business US Tax Director, corporate tax team and external tax advisors, as well as Business Development, treasury and capital markets teams.
Requirements:
- BA/BS or Equivalent
- MBA a plus
- CPA / ACA or equivalent with a tax specialization is a requirement
- LLM or equivalent with a tax specialization in the UK would be considered
- At least 6-10 years strong UK tax experience within private practice and/or industry or similar.
- Working and/or advisory experience with multinational, complex organizations will be advantageous.
- Working and/or advisory experience with regulated environments is desirable
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong UK technical-tax expertise, gained at management level.
- Ability to prepare and review complex tax returns for UK companies.
- Strong tax accounting skills and ideally a good understanding of FAS 109 (and other US tax accounting concepts).
- Awareness of fundamental Subpart F and foreign tax credit principles of US taxation. Ideally, strong US tax knowledge and experience, or experience partnering with US tax specialists.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication listening skills.
- Proven leadership skill.
- Strong analytical skills combined with ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple, concise manner to senior management, to finance associates, and other non-tax personnel.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize competing tasks meet deadlines in a matrix organization.
- Ability to work with and influence other teams in Finance, and with commercial colleagues in a fast paced, quick to implementation environment.
- Experience of the tax aspects of simplification, including legal entity rationalization issues.
- Strong exposure to loan relationships legislation, including thin capitalization, worldwide debt cap and anti-arbitrage legislation.
- Experience in dealing practically with the UK’s general transfer pricing requirements.
