UK VAT Manager recruitment

Role description:

The role will report directly into the EMEA Head of Indirect Tax and will sit within the wider Tax team based in our London headquarters. The successful candidate will be responsible for all UK VAT compliance and will be required to provide ad-hoc technical support to both back and front office departments.

• Overall management and responsibility of the UK VAT reporting processes which will include:

- management of the relationship with the India VAT compliance team

- preparation and submission of the quarterly UK VAT group returns/annual adjustment

- statistical declarations

- annual CGS calculation

- assisting the Head of Indirect Tax in modelling potential changes to the group PESM to    enhance recovery

- monitor changes within the business to ensure the PESM is fair and reasonable and advise the Head of Indirect Tax of any necessary changes to the method

• Involvement in VAT audits including implementation of any recommendations arising

• Assisting the Head of Indirect Tax in providing tax support and advice to both front and back office departments

• Ad hoc project work

• Continual review and refinement of VAT risk management controls

• Training the India VAT compliance team and other business units

• Work closely with the Budget and the Expenses teams to ensure that irrecoverable VAT is being correctly budgeted for and monitor the current provisions to ensure adequacy

• Identify and ensure that legislative changes are reviewed and adopted as appropriate in a timely manner

Key objectives critical to success of the role:

The successful candidate will need to have a proven track record of VAT compliance, preferably gained within the financial services sector and must be comfortable with partial exemption. The candidate will need to be an excellent communicator and have proven management capabilities as they will have day to day oversight of the extended VAT team located in Powai.

Skills, Experience and knowledge required:

• Accounting and tax qualifications highly preferable but would consider appropriate experience “gained on the job”

• IT literate

• Excel skills essential

• Knowledge of PeopleSoft or similar systems

• Proven management skills
