Underwriter, Property (Energy & Power) recruitment
You will work with the local underwriters and share the responsibility for underwriting accounts and growing the Singapore-sourced facultative energy and power book. This role involves underwriting and marketing tasks, as well as the development and administration of your own client portfolio. The underwriting component involves the analysis of coverage (namely Property Damage and Business Interruption), exposures, wordings, premium calculations and the technical insurability/ re-insurability of risks. The types of risks are onshore oil and gas operations, refineries, petrochemical plants and pipeline companies. Additional sectors include utilities. At times, you will also be asked to assist with other Property business development and underwriting.
An important part of your job will be the discussion and negotiation of terms and conditions with both clients and brokers. You will be responsible for the appropriate contractual documentation of the risks covered. The marketing component of your job will consist of working with existing and prospective brokers and clients for renewals and to develop new business to profitably grow the book. Along with the team, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing strategic relationships with key broker producers and clients, and, where necessary, making presentations about the firm’s underwriting capabilities. You will also be expected to coordinate with other underwriters and business originators to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
Pre-requisites:
- General (re)insurance knowledge with at least 5 years underwriting experience in Onshore Energy and/or Utilities/ Power. Experience in Energy Offshore would be additionally beneficial
- Highly motivated individual and good team player
- Technical understanding of standard and manuscripted forms
- Highly proficient in the use of underwriting tools and systems
- Client focused with strong marketing and negotiation skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to constantly prioritize tasks in order to manage high work load and to work under pressure
