Underwriter recruitment
Catlin Bermuda is currently looking for an Underwriter to join a small team responsible for the management and development of a portfolio of credit and political risk insurance business.
The ideal candidate must have experience in analyzing corporate and bank credit risk, with up- to-date knowledge and understanding of emerging markets, ideally with previous exposure to trade finance, commodity finance and structured credit.
Key responsibilities include:
- The assessment, pricing and underwriting of corporate and structured credit risk, together with contract frustration and political risk business;
- Support with portfolio management and restructuring of existing contracts as required;
- Generate new business streams in emerged and emerging credit markets;
- Ensure compliance with group guidance on credit and political risk analysis;
- The ability to work extended hours and undertake overseas travel as required;
- Such other related duties as may be specified.
Applicants must possess the following qualifications, skills and experience: -
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University;
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a comparable role within the insurance or banking industry;
- Strong analytical skills and a good understanding of financial models, including experience in analyzing output from rating agencies;
- Accustomed to assessing credit and political risk data;
- Comprehensive understanding of credit and loan facility documentation, coverages and structures;
- Good interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and excellent negotiation and presentation skills;
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
