Underwriting Manager – Engineering Lines recruitment
In this role you will develop and implement underwriting and pricing strategies and business solutions (e.g. products, underwriting tools and processes) to improve underwriting performance of the LoB and to deliver LoB plans. You will demonstrate specialized knowledge and expertise in Engineering products and industry and lead initiatives to develop technical standards, best practices and controls for the areas of expertise. Further you will create an environment and framework that drives technical expertise and supports empowerment.
You will leverage scale and capability across Engineering Line sub-lines of business to identify and address hot spots and opportunities. You will support the development of event identification, risk assessment, risk response, control activities monitoring of Engineering Lines sub-lines and you will contribute to the development of the framework for underwriting decisions e.g. authority grants, referrals, technical reviews. Therefore you will develop, promote maintain strong partnerships both internally externally and drive standardization, development and enhancements of global underwriting guidelines wherever feasible and value adding. We also count on you providing technical underwriting expertise and guidance to Distribution, Business Units, Proposition Development and Market Facing Underwriters in support of the achievement of business plans. Finally you will ensure adherence to Zurich Risk Policy (ZRP) and develops, maintains and delivers Global Underwriting Policies (GUP).
Prerequisites are your University degree and experience as a qualified insurance professional with 10 ore more years in underwriting from which 6 are at a senior level. Beside that you have a track record of delivering change in a complex insurance environment. Further market leading understanding of LoB underwriting principles globally are also advantageous. You are highly computer literate and have a strong ability to lead and implement change, displaying both persistence and resilience. Another plus are your excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, high level relationship building skills, problem-solving, decision-making and judgement skills.
