Unit Engineering Manager

To undertake engineering associated with the design and development of industrial steam turbines, the related control and protection systems, it's instrumentation and the auxiliary systems.

Lead the Small Steam Turbine local Unit and the Engineering eDepartment and act as a Lead Engineer of project execution teams. Establish the department set and ramp-up to the order volume and guide the engineering execution teams in all relevant technical and leadership aspects in order to adhere to the contract execution time schedule and timely completion of the engineering tasks and milestones through efficient order engineering and order management ensuring high quality level and delivery within cost targets.

Coordination of interfaces with other RD and engineering functions, project management, factory, quality management, site personnel, customers and suppliers.

Understand the fundamental physical phenomena and mechanisms that are important for the efficient and safe design of steam turbine solutions.

Evaluate and certify the mechanical behavior of these designs.

Ensure that employees' development plans are set up and the tool landscape for efficient order execution engineering is developed.

Support patent activities and publications as well as tendering activities.

Experience

Experience

5 + years experience in mechanical design of turbomachinery components, preferable advanced knowledge in design of steam turbine and auxiliary systems

Strong planning, organizing, and priority setting skills.

Knowledge of ST manufacturing processes would be useful.

Mechanical design and analysis of turbines, assemblies and components.

Lifetime assessment techniques for turbines (HCF, LCF, creep, thermal fatigue etc)

Turbine design and analysis: thermodynamic, mechanical, layout

Good understanding of Steam Turbine's operation, safety and control/supervision and instrumentation.

Good mathematical, analytical/problem solving and software skills

Trained and proficient in the use of turbomachinery mechanical methods and commercial software packages e.g. Abaqus/Ansys. Able to analyse, understand and interpret difficult structural problems. Able to further develop the methods and tools for competitive advantage.

Basic understanding in:

Electronic/Electrical Engineering, hydraulics, risk analysis, international codes and standards

Commercial knowledge for assessing business risks and opportunities to undertake

commercial negotiations, etc.
