bGENERAL SUMMARY:
Walden University, offering on-line graduate degrees at a distance, as well as bachelor degree completion programs, is seeking an individual to join our team as University Events Coordinator. This position is located at Walden University's academic headquarters in Minneapolis, Minn.
Responsibilities
Walden University doctoral students attend face-to-face sessions held throughout the year at various locations around the United States and internationally. At residencies, students and faculty work together on educational and scholarly activities. The Events Coordinator plays a key role on the University Events Team. Responsibilities of this position include creating and maintaining electronic event environments, managing residency program books, and planning academic residencies and serving as an on-site coordinator as necessary. The University Events Coordinator reports to the Manager, University Events.
The key responsibilities of this position are:
- Create and participate in residency events in Cvent.
- Serve as Events Team lead for facilitation of program books and perform duties as the liaison between University Events and the editorial team.
- Serve as on-site coordinator at residencies and university events as necessary.
- Answer logistical questions about residencies and events asked by students, staff, and faculty.
- Coordinate housing and travel for staff and faculty attending Walden events at residency venues.
- Plan space usage, catering, AV needs and other logistics for residencies.
- Oversee, create, and participate in electronic environments established for students attending residencies (eCollege, and eCampus).
- Maintain communication with Academic Residencies and other Walden and Laureate departments to ensure successful events.
- Create, edit, and format residency documents including program books, nametags, advising sheets, table tents, handouts, signature sheets, and other materials as required.
- Other duties assigned by the Manager, University Events.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree and/or industry related experience.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Cvent or similar event management software and ability to manage relationships between two different student management systems preferred.
- Knowledge of correct use of grammar, punctuation, and APA style.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills: ability to plan and manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability and willingness to travel to event locations on a monthly basis.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet navigation, and database use. Familiarity with PowerPoint and knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, Cvent, online classrooms, and web editing software preferred.
