Unix/ Linux Engineer

The IT Operations Team at Tibra is responsible for all technology infrastructure across Asia – specifically supporting the trading systems, network and telephony, office infrastructure and desktops. A team of network engineers, UNIX and Windows specialists, and Applications specialists provide support and execute projects across the region. The team brings superior outcomes for Tibra by delivering innovative, flexible and responsive solutions through collaborative team-work.
A newly appointed vacancy that rarely comes about we are now looking for a keen, motivated and hungry individual to join our team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Optimisation and streamlining of Linux deployments using your Linux-heavy skill-set
- Emphasis on automation to reduce ongoing maintenance and manual overhead
- Server builds and new Data Centre site rollouts
- Expansion and maturing or monitoring mechanisms
- Liaise with vendors and other service providers to achieve the best outcomes for Tibra
- Perform an architecture and design role from time to time
- Undertake preventative monitoring
- Produce and update effective documentation in a timely manner
- Conduct practical and constructive performance analysis
- Be involved in the planning and execution of project work
Provide on-call support and be flexible to perform changes outside of production hours
- Understand the application space and its impact on hardware/ OS
Experience Qualifications:
- Diverse background in build automation and deployment automation (e.g. Pupper/ Cobble)
- In depth experience with performance monitoring and tuning
- RHCE or similar Redhat certification – or appropriate experience
- Experience with IBM hardware a plus
- Exposure to IBM Tivoli, Informax, Postgres, orc advantageous
- Scripting experience with shell, perl, python and bash
- Working on systems in a real-time environment
- Exposure to trading floor environment /financial markets is a plus
- Exposure to large scale distributed transaction systems a plus

- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- An ‘all rounder’ with an enthusiastic attitude who wants to understand more about technology and the business
