Responsibilities The Open Systems Operations staff monitors the systems and applications for Verizon Wireless via HP Openview, Consoleworks, HP Systems Manager Insight and various operating systems (VMS, UNIX platforms) This position will provide first tier support for UNIX Platforms (Solaris, Linux, HPUX, AIX), WINDOWS and VMS servers; and escalate to other support teams when appropriate. Monitor/Handle the following - * system and batch performance * tape backups/restores * data center environmentals * system resources * CMIS and ACSR tickets Open/Close change control and incident tickets for System admin and various support teams. Needs to be able to work any shift, including nights and weekends. Qualifications 2+ years console operations with background in UNIX (Solaris, Linux, AIX, HPUX) VMS and WINDOWS. Bachelors or associates degree highly preferred. 2+ years of experience in a network/data center operations or hardware/software support, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience Knowledge of HP Openview, HP Systems Insight Manager, Consoleworks, Tapesys, Control-M. Help desk experience a plus. Knowledge of networks a plus. Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including the ability to understand and communicate complex technical information Knowledge of networking (e.g., LAN/WAN, TCP/IP) and/or computer (e.g., micro, mainframe) operations PC and desktop applications competency (e.g., Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc.) Knowledge of information systems concepts Working knowledge of applicable methodologies, tools, standards and procedures Good interpersonal skills Decision-making and leadership aptitudes Good organizational and problem solving abilities Good verbal and written communication skills Must be able to work overnight and weekends Equal Employment Opportunity We are an equal opportunity employer m/f/d/v.
