Description: Responsible for UNIX servers (Sun F15000 and smaller) and the operating systems software and its successful integration with the hardware and applications software of the major computing systems across the organization. The Unix Administrator's responsibilities include: implementation of baseline changes and respond to change requests; perform technical evaluations, analysis, and troubleshooting for all supported servers; build servers by providing technical configuration, setup, installation services, hardware and developing test plans; and operate and maintain servers. Required Skills: A grade level E05 position requires a minimum 8+ years of experience. A grade level E06 position requires a minimum 10+ years of experience Clearance required: Active Top Secret / SCI w Polygraph. Candidate must have 8 - 10 years experience maintaining servers, hard drive arrays, tape arrays / tape libraries and desktops. Candidate must have 8 - 10 years experience maintaining Unix systems in a Managed Configuration including server baseline establishment, change tracking, server build reports, and other configuration management procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of backup / archival processes and software including one or more of the following Acronis and Veritas NetBackup. Knowledge of software development systems such as C++, Perl, Java and /or Sybase PowerBuilder. Candidate must have 8 - 10 years experience supporting web servers using Weblogic, Websphere, TOMCAT, etc. Minimum of 5 years administering a Linux cluster. Desired Skills: 8 - 10 years supervisory experience. Advanced degree a plus. Strong written and verbal skills as used in presentation, reports and instructional material for junior staff. Must demonstrate knowledge in multiple system areas including various operating systems, LAN/WAN network operations, system performance. Knowledge of Database Management system software including Quest Central (used with either Oracle or Sybase), and Sybase Replication Server. Education and Experience: BS/BA degree required in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related field. Must have 8 - 10 years relevant experience. Experience may substitute Education.
