UNIX System Administrator (Sun Solaris, Redhat) recruitment
Profile:
UNIX Systems Administrator provides end to end infrastructure services and support for the firm’s development, production environments across the Pac Rim regions (~1800 servers in 9 countries/regions).
The team provides 24x7 supports for front office, middle office and back office LINUX/UNIX systems in multiple lines of business (including Equity, FICC and IBK) and focuses on trouble shooting of system issues and system configuration. Provides and supports a viable BCP strategy, including participation in regular contingency testing. Participate in Audit, Change, Release, Incident, Event and Problem Management processes as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide fast response support for mission critical production LINUX/UNIX systems.
- Maintain servers in development, QA, production and contingency environments.
- Perform configuration and troubleshooting of hardware, Operating System, Storage and backup, and network problems as necessary and perform root cause analysis when required.
- Assist application partners with application releases.
- Assist in facilities, networking and storage maintenance events.
- Plan, test and implement changes and upgrades to the server hardware and operating systems environment as required.
- Provide escalation support for L1 Operations Analysts team in Singapore.
- Act as escalation point for unresolved Level 1 issues.
- Provide L3 support for overnight issues for EMEA region.
Requirement
Essential Skills (Technical / Business Domain / Managerial/ Soft skills)
- At least 5 years and at least 3 years expert level experience in Solaris 8/9/10 Administration, Redhat Linux 3/4/5 administration and related technologies - TCP/IP, EMC SAN, NFS, SAMBA, Active Directory, DNS, VMWare Virtual Infrastructure and blade technology.
- Experience supporting Production, Development QA systems within an enterprise environment.
- Good knowledge of shell/perl scripting, Veritas VXVM, Veritas VCS, VMware Virtualization technologies.
- Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communications, organizational and time management skills.
- Capability to work under pressure.
- Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent.
Desired Skills (Technical / Domain / Managerial/ Language skills)
- Experience with SPARC Server Hardware Platform
- Experience with X86 Server Hardware Platform
- Experience with IBM AIX OS Hardware Platform
- Knowledge of Kickstart, Jumpstart
- Knowledge of debugging tools such as Strace, TCPdump, Snoop, SAR
- Knowledge of shell/perl scripting
- Knowledge of HP/Compaq Insight Performance Monitoring Toolsets
- Knowledge of Remote Administration through iLO/RILO/ALOM technologies
- VMWare Virtualization Technologies
- Knowledge of Patrol or Tivoli
- Knowledge of Legato Backup
- Knowledge of EMC SAN
- Knowledge of NetApps NAS
- Knowledge of Market Data related systems and technologies, such as Tibco and EMS, Multicast and P2PS
- Knowledge of Investment banking business, practices and operations.
- ITIL Training or Foundations Certification highly preferred
