Job Description Job Classification: Contract This individual is part of a team of server administrators responsible for supporting the enterprise UNIX platform. This position will provide support in the areas of tactical planning, operational management, and production engineering within for the UNIX footprint. Additional duties will include 3rd level incident/problem management support for issues that arise with core and client applications. This individual will also participate in projects in order to sustain and maintain core infrastructure components. This position requires the candidate to meet with internal customers to understand the business requirements including: system capacity performance, system availability, disaster recovery, and data protection. Ideal Candidate should have the following skills: - 5+ years supporting a large distributed IT environment with a focus on the UNIX platform including AIX, HP-UX, and Linux (70% AIX, 30% Linux/HP-UX) - 4+ years working in a large scale virtualized UNIX environment (LPARs, NPARs, VPARs). - 4+ years supporting and managing UNIX clustering solutions (HACMP, ServiceGuard, etc.) - Strong knowledge of networking protocols and connectivity as it relates to server based connectivity. - Ability to multi task and do in-depth server troubleshooting. - Identifies production and project efficiencies and quality improvements. - Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency. - Must possess demonstrated technical and leadership skills in a fast paced support environment. - Required to effectively manage problem tickets and service requests from internal users and participate in projects as a technical resource for the department.
