UNIX Systems Engineer – high availability recruitment

The global leader in mobile banking and payment services requires a UNIX Systems Engineer from a high availability systems background to join their London team. The successful candidate will be involved in providing stable, integrated environments for production, test, staging and development needs and supporting and assisting during releases to clients, and, as part of a small Technical Operations team, supporting the growing business in all aspects of IT provision.

Although the scope and focus of the day to day activities within the role will change dependent on business requirements, the following should be considered the core activities:

Systems Administration
* Implementation and configuration of infrastructure.
* Configuration and maintenance of highly available architectures.
* Administration, troubleshooting and configuration of QA, test and development systems.
* Scripting, automation and integration work (including for corporate systems).
* Backup and recovery.
* Assistance and consultancy to LSPs, MSPs and customers during new implementations and upgrades.

General
* Involvement in migrations of various systems, physically and logically.
* Implementation of new products and services.
* 3rd line support of infrastructure for company products.
* Functional and change control documentation.
* Capacity planning and management around QA, development and test systems.

While the client operates within the banking sector, the successful candidate does not need financial experience. The key focus is on UNIX Systems Administration experience and exposure to high availability systems, which may include industry backgrounds such as telecommunications, Online gaming or possibly banking.
