UNIX SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Fordham University has an excellent reputation as a dynamic institution in the cultural heart of New York City. Founded in 1841, Fordham enrolls more than 15,100 undergraduate and graduate students in its 10 Colleges and Schools.Our IT/Computer Services Group is currently seeking a Unix Systems Engineer to be responsible for the continued maintenance, monitoring and deployment of new centralized systems services.

This Systems Engineer position will include the following duties:

Qualified candidates must have a BS degree, Unix knowledge, with 1-3 years of Systems Engineering experience. Knowledge in Linux (Redhat) and Unix (Solaris) Operating Systems (or similar Unix/Linux equivalent knowledge), and related security is preferred. Proficiency in the following skill sets is a plus: storage area networks/network attached storage, firewalls, and server virtualization (e.g. Sun Containers, VMWare). Good communication skills are required.
