UNIX Systems Engineer

The UNIX systems engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of all UNIX, Linux, and Mac OS X systems. This role ensures the stability, integrity and day-to-day performance of systems that support core organizational functions. The UNIX systems engineer applies proven communication and problem solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of technology within the organization. Requirements: - Design, Build, and Implement UNIX systems in accordance with requirements and standards - Participation in an on-call rotation - Desire to improve upon existing system designs and automate processes - Maintain the integrity of our systems - Strong communication skills - Coordinate with other team members to accomplish projects in allotted timeframes - Strong drive to keep current on UNIX product trends and innovations Qualifications: - 3+ years of related work experience in UNIX administration or engineering - 3+ years of experience in configuring UNIX, Linux, Mac OS X servers and systems or equivalent - Experience with IBM AIX, Solaris, and Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS Linux preferred) - Strong analytic and research skills - Scripting / task automation experience with Perl and Shell Scripting - Ability to work independently as well as with a team - Ability to troubleshoot problems and quickly resolve issues
