Unix/Linux Systems Services/Support Analyst: 6-8 years experience
Our Server Operations team is in need of two skilled Linux administrators to support an environment of both Virtual and Physical servers, and will perform system administration functions including maintenance of systems, applications, LAN, WAN, network and application security, event investigation, install upgrades/patches, troubleshooting of system performance issues.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install, configure, support, and maintain Red Hat Linux/Oracle Enterprise Linux operating system.
- Resolve complex hardware and software integration issues, interfacing with database administration, software development, network support personnel, and vendors to coordinate solutions.
- Function as an integral part of a team, demonstrate flexibility across a range of technical issues and focus to ensure the team responsibilities are their top priority.
- Perform support role as a member of a 24x7 on call rotation.
Note: We have two positions open, with a minimum of 5 years experience required.
Education and Experience
- 5+ years' experience supporting a Unix environment
- Hands-on experience with Linux is a key differentiator
- Technical expertise in the area of system upgrades, process improvements, security requirements, infrastructure improvements, etc.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as a keen analytical skill to interact with all major technical areas within EI is a must.
- Self-motivated, tactful and assertive in order to communicate with a wide variety of technical and business audiences to gain acceptance of their proposals and drive them to implementation.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, quickly drive to or identify root cause and collaborate on resolutions
- Ability to dig deep into the Linux kernel to solve complex problems
- Working knowledge of boot loaders and experience with X86 processors/BIOS
- Preventive maintenance services during regularly scheduled maintenance windows following defined Change Management processes and procedures
- Works with vendors for issue resolution and corrective action
- Regularly interacts with customers and other functional groups
- Must understand complex technical issues; possess excellent troubleshooting and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience in a Fidelity IT and/or Business organization is a plus
