Upstream Application Support Analyst

This application support position will be responsible for providing data management and technical assistance to the upstream business organization. This role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the business organization procedures and goals, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established time-frames.
Additional responsibilities to include:
- Deploying technical applications
- Owning, tracking and resolving technical application incidents and requests from customer base
- Utilizing databases and programming knowledge to catalog, maintain, store, distribute data, interpretations and analysis that increase the user community efficiency and produce ongoing value to the organization to various business units
- Evaluate new technologies and processes
Education: Earth Science Degree (geology, geophysics or engineering preferred)
Experience:
Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with emphasis on information technology protocols and data management
Qualifications:
- Above average knowledge of geologic, geophysical, production data and information technology protocols
- Proficient understanding of oil and gas exploration data types, software and function
- Familiarity with standard petroleum data formats (UKOOA, LAS, SEGY, SCADA, etc) for well and seismic data as well as common vendor data formats including international arena databases
- Understanding of data structure for Open Works, Petrel, eVIN, OFC, commercial data products
- Ability to access and integrate data between applications
- Willingness to interact and mentor upstream business user community
- Locate, identify and rectify user community data and application concerns
- Proficient in the use of UNIX/Linux, SQL and standard Microsoft Office products
- Evaluate and recommend new upstream business technologies
- Good communication and documentation skills
