Upstream Coal Gross Margin Analyst recruitment
We have an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute analyst with advanced numerical skills to join our Upstream Finance Team.
Working as part of a small you will take a key role in the following:
- Supporting monthly performance reporting, forecasting and planning for Coal Gross Margin, whilst ensuring accuracy and consistency are maintained.
- Contributing to the production of additional variance analysis for Power/ Coal and Carbon.
- Gaining 'Market Exposure' by tracking hedging positions for Power /Fuel and Carbon and relate the moving impacts to gross margin variance analysis.
- Producing and interpreting variance analysis on Imbalance Cost, Power Bid /Offer profitability and Ancillary services. Producing variance analysis on non-energy cost such as TNUoS, BSUoS and RCRC.
- Managing the 'market trading database' owned by 'Optimisation' team and extract analysis to monitor clean dark spreads.
- Supporting the creation of Monthly Performance Reporting Pack, MTP Pack by co-coordinating with Coal station, commercial management and producing findings.
- Liaising with Upstream Finance team and Asset Life Time team to support integrated financial reporting process and controls.
- Monthly reporting to DECC on fuel volumes and output.
- Mapping Month End and Gross Margin process and Contribute to Improvement.
- Ad hoc Gross Margin project work either as project lead, or where specialist input / knowledge is required elsewhere.
- Supporting variance analysis on 'Asset performance' as required.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a degree in a technical or mathematical discipline or equivalent work experience gained in an analytical role. You will be confident in analysing complex data and translating the results into coherent messages. You will be confident with a variety of IT packages including SAP and Genesis and be proactive, diligent and positive in contributing to the goals of the team working collaboratively with all stakeholders. Ideally you will have energy market experience or a good knowledge of the sector with the willingness to learn.
