US Economist – Buyside recruitment
You will be part of the economic research unit with primary focus on providing economic insights on the US markets. As an Economist, you follow, filter and interpret economic and political developments, maintain and develop economic models all with the goal to contribute to the quality of decision-making of the team. You are also in charge of the client contacts, involving frequent contacts with both internal and external customers.
Job description
- Analyse macro economic developments and structural trends regarding the US economy as well as consumer economics related topics
- In depth coverage of the US economy, including monetary and fiscal policies. Detailed macro forecasts over a two-year time span. Monetary policy call. Estimation of long term trends for growth, inflation, interest rates, real exchange rate and fiscal sustainability
- Write short notes as well as in depth reports on these topics
- Conduct macro-economic and policy research on US economy
- Give presentations both to internal and external clients as well as the press.
- Communicate internally and externally on economic views
- Contribution to thematic research, beyond country research
- Maintain and improve macro-economic models and provide forecasts
Your profile
- Experience in economic research
- 8 to 10 years of experience as a desk economist (sell side or buy side) and having already covered the US economy
- Strong macroeconomist with a distinguished academic background (MA / MS / MPhil / PhD)
- University degree in (advanced) economics.
- Knowledge of macro-economic theory and its application to real world analysis as well as macroeconomics market analysis.
- Strong interest in macroeconomics and financial markets
- English and French fluent
