US Tax Lawyer – Senior Manager/Vice President recruitment

There will also be time spent on assisting the EMEA BU support team on non-US tax matters ( up to 20% estimated)
Specific responsibilities include:
- Assisting in developing customer and proprietary trading opportunities (e.g. cross-border tax, regulatory and accounting arbitrage, capital gains planning, loss utilisation, etc.)
- US tax sign off responsibility for new products in areas of primary responsibility
- Review of documentation
- Coordinating with other support disciplines (Legal, Accounting, Treasury, Regulatory) to ensure that tax provisions, structures, policies, guidelines, etc. are understood and implemented appropriately and that other support functions are involved as necessary.
- Analysis of cross border activities to ensure withholding taxes are minimised within the risk limits of the firm
- Initiating and managing communication with tax counsel and other professional service providers
- Providing tax advice to business units incorporating sound business judgement
- Liaising with other tax department members both within the European tax function and in other worldwide locations.
Skills Required:
- A thorough understanding of US taxation and of financial products (convertibles, bonds, repos, derivatives etc.)
- In depth experience of international US tax rules generally and specifically with respect to cross border transactions
- Experience of liaising with advisers
- Strong academic qualifications
- US lawyer or CPA
- Financial Service Sector Coverage/Experience.
