User Experience Architect Job in Billerica 01821, Massachusetts US
This position serves as the primary lead User Experience Architect for a portfolio of Merck Millipore web sites, on-line services and mobile applications. This position will report to the Head of eBusiness Strategy Customer Insight, and supports the overall company initiatives in global and regional web site projects. The position will make informed recommendations on design strategies, leveraging best practices, to develop and document methodologies, standards and best practices.
The position will collaborate closely with business leaders, stakeholders, visual designers, and front-end developers on concept generation through final implementation; including collaborating on new design concepts, working on win/win solutions with primary stakeholders, consulting with stakeholders on design enhancements, and working on small/mid-size maintenance projects. This is a strategic and hands-on position that will lead the definition and evolution of several widely known and used online products, services, and applications.

Position Responsibilities
- Lead teams in user-centered design activities including:
- Define and design User Experience Architectures (comprised of wireframes, sitemaps, scenarios/interaction flows, and prototypes) for online applications as well as web and mobile experiences.
- Heuristic Reviews and Competitive Audits: Performing heuristic evaluations of company and competitor online web applications.
- User Research: Conducting contextual inquiry (in-person observation interviews) with target users to understand their mental models and behaviors. Analyze and synthesize user research understanding to define appropriate functionality and product requirements to drive future redesigns.
- Research Analysis: Analyzing information gained during user research and also conducting heuristic and competitive analysis.
- Research Reporting: Writing recommendation reports based on research.
- Persona/Archetype Development: Defining target users and authoring detailed user personas.
- Modeling Task Flow Creation: Conceptualizing ideal user paths/task flows/scenarios, etc.
- Information Architecture/Interaction Design: Building navigational systems, scenarios, information architectures, sitemaps.
- Wireframe Creation and Use Cases: Identifying key screen types and generating full screen inventories. Co- (and sometimes sole) author of detailed use cases that developers will use.
- Usability Testing: Conducting usability testing, analyzing the results and creating recommendations report.
Qualifications
- 10 years total industry (Website Design / Architecture) including at least 5 years of dedicated experience with website architecture, information architecture, interaction design, navigation design, and content best practices (all or part of which were performed in an agency environment)
- Demonstrated hands-on experience (shown via portfolio) in 2 or more business settings with wireframe / use case development; hands-on prototype development; user research
- Able to deftly balance client desires with user needs, research, and best practices
- Able to work as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both spoken and written
- Able to work alone or in direct collaboration with another team member
- Demonstrated experience with taxonomy-driven content structure, business process analysis, and CMS-driven projects
- Experience with online marketing strategies, social media, business process analysis
- Able to architect large corporate websites balancing user experience with SEO needs
