The Liberty Mutual Personal Markets Web Experience Team has an outstanding opportunity for a User Experience Engineer.
The User Experience Engineer improves the usability of public-facing websites and online applications to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction of the online experience for our customers. The User Experience Engineer works closely with project teams to understand users' intentions and to test functional designs and prototypes in keeping with users' goals and the company's business objectives.
The company is looking for a User Experience Engineer who is comfortable working in a corporate environment. This is a 37.5 hour per week (5 days per week), permanent position. The position is based in our home office in downtown Boston, MA.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead usability studies and usability testing
- Write heuristic evaluations and expert reviews, prototype user interfaces, and conduct usability testing
- Advocate for users while understanding the business goals of the stakeholders and management
- Interact with a wide variety of stakeholders - business sponsors, product managers, business analysts, technical leads, and developers
- Participate actively in usability testing, including note-taking and moderating, to understand user behaviors and preferences
- Analyze the results from usability tests, and write up findings and recommendations in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Create low- to medium-fidelity prototypes and wireframes
- Document end-to-end user experiences, including user workflows and specific UI screens and components
- Additional responsibilities may include supporting the Principal Information Architect with ongoing project work
Qualifications
- MS in Human Factors, HCI, Information Design, or similar field
- Demonstrated interest in user-centered design and cognitive psychology
- Experience leading usability projects
- Experience in social media and mobile related technologies
- Experience running usability tests and writing expert (heuristic) reviews
- Experience creating prototypes and wireframes
- Experience using Morae or Camtasia
- Experience juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to think creatively to come up with solutions
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while effectively communicating with both external and internal clients
- Experience with rapid prototyping
- Understanding of information architecture
- Familiar with the tools of graphic design, screen layout, and visual design (Photoshop, Visio, Axure)
