The successful candidate will join a team of top notch Human Factors researchers that are using creative and rigorous approaches to inform the design of products within Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB). Candidate must demonstrate experience in experimental design, research studies, statistical analysis and application of existing knowledge of Human Factors in support of product design. Essential Duties Responsibilities: ? Identify Human Factors related issues/challenges ? Plan and conduct Human Factors research and leverage existing knowledge of Human Factors to address those challenges ? Translate research findings to inform industrial design and engineering direction ? Communicate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders ? Work within a multidisciplinary group of industrial designers, engineers and project managers to optimize product design Required qualifications: ? A minimum of an MA/MS in Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Ergonomics, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field ? Experience designing and conducting original experimental research on physical devices ? Strong statistical analysis skills; familiarity with parametric and non-parametric statistics and the various statistical packages used for analysis (SPSS, Statistica, etc.) ? Ability to present research data simply and clearly ? 2+ years of industry experience conducting user research and effectively driving tangible outcomes with product teams ? Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team with limited supervision ? Strong oral and written communication skills Desired qualifications: ? Experience with advanced methods for exploring consumer perceptions around physical comfort and usability with the goal of establishing relationships between these perceptions and product attributes ?
